Riggs Set for Haas CNC Racing Debut
Scott Riggs, driver of the Haas CNC Racing No. 66 State Water Heaters Chevrolet Impala SS, makes his team debut Thursday in the first Gatorade Duel 150 qualifying race at Daytona International Speedway.
Riggs has fit in well with his new team, lead by crew chief Robert “Bootie” Barker, posting a solid qualifying run for the Daytona 500 (22nd) that put him on the inside of the fourth row for the Gatorade Duel 150.
“Overall I’m happy with our practice times and qualifying run,” Riggs said. “It was about what we expected. I think we could’ve picked up a little more speed with some more time to work on the car, but we’re in a position now where we can concentrate on making the State Water Heaters Chevrolet better for the qualifying race and still gain a great starting spot for the Daytona 500,” Riggs said. “I’m looking forward to seeing how the car is in drafting practice today. I’m confident we’ll run well.”
In three Daytona 500 qualifying races Rigg’s best starting position was fourth (2005) and his best finish was fifth (20005).
Thursday’s Gatorade Duel 150 races will air live beginning at 2 p.m. on the SPEED television network and on MRN radio affiliates.
